Daddy's All American Girl

***disclaimer***  Any of my guy friends please DO NOT READ!!!!

So I was hard at work last week, when my sidekick Ben Grande called me over to his desk.  Usually this entails proof reading an email, checking out someone's facebook pictures, or figuring out how we are going to get rich and then what we are going to do with all the money!  This time he had a picture of Carrie Underwood on his computer...I said, "yeah, she's cute but I like Jessica Simpson better," and then turned around headed back to my desk.  He said, "Volk come back here...have you heard the song, "All American Girl"?!?!  

So there we were, 2 grown men, looking out the window watching a video and listening to the words.  There were a couple funny looks as people walked by but it really was the perfect theme song for my little girl that is only a few weeks away.  It is kinda funny that my wedding song was written by Carrie Underwood too.  So cheers to Grande, Carrie, and my All American Girl!!!!

38 weeks

The Baby's Room is Finished!

Over the last few months Ben and I have been working hard to put together our baby's nursery.  We are relieved that it's finally finished and now we can just enjoy it.  Most weekend mornings I will find Ben in the glider reading his paper and drinking his coffee.  It's definitely the most comfy chair in our house.  Lucky for me, that's where I will be spending most of my time nursing.  I hope you enjoy the pictures...

Three More Weeks...

Today I had my 37 week check up with my doctor. Part of me was hoping she'd say you're ready to have this baby. I can't imagine myself getting any bigger and I have reached the point where I am just done being pregnant. I have to keep reminding myself that I have 3 more weeks, (if not longer) and I can't think that this baby is coming early. She said my blood pressure was great and the baby's growth was right on target. So I guess now it's time to relax and wait. I am starting to come to the realization that this baby will come when she's ready.

For the most part I'm still feeling really good. I haven't been too uncomfortable at night, and I have been walking a lot.  All in all I can't really complain about pregnancy too much, it's just I am so excited to meet this little girl inside of me. I feel her kick and sometimes her little foot sticks out so much I want to grab it.

I have been off work for almost a month, (with the exception of covering the front desk at the spa for an hour or two a day) and it's been great. It's amazing all the things I have come up with to keep myself busy. I must say there hasn't really been too many times where I find myself bored with nothing to do.

Congrats to Cas and Missy

I want to congratulate my cousins Cas and Missy on their newborn daughter, Mila May Schneller, who was born very early in the morning on Sunday, January 11. Missy makes this whole pregnancy and delivery thing seem so easy. She looked great just hours after giving birth! The birth of Mila is definitely getting me more and more excited and anxious to have my baby. Only a few more weeks, so I can't complain too much. It's so exciting that our baby girl will have a cousin who is so close in age. It will be fun to watch them grow up together!
